Another Successful 4 Month Implementation

Egistix™ just completed a four-month implementation for a new client. It is a very gratifying accomplishment to be part of a successful implementation.  It requires dedicated people from different disciplines to pull together and work toward the common goal of getting a client from initial introduction to running a solution in production. The following are client comments regarding the experience:

Project Management and Methodology

  • weekly project team meetings worked well to keep everyone informed and work out any issues as they arose.
  • Having the processes mapped in advance of the implementation ensured we had flow, timing, roles, requirements, etc.
  • Project Status Report, Calendars helped the working team come to a common understanding at weekly meetings.
  • An appropriate amount of pre-planning around requirements gathering and partial resource planning set this up to meet timelines and expectations.
  • Having a schedule with someone watching the timelines worked well.
  • Small project team and small end user group worked well.
  • Having the Reference Data gathered in advance saved an LOT of time and is a good piece of corporate knowledge that will largely stand the test of time.

Team Dynamics, Roles & Responsibilities

  • Onsite, a side-by-side configuration with SME & Vendor was efficient.
  • Dedicated end user availability proved to be a tremendous aid in implementation.

Expectations vs. Outcomes

  • Having one person take the lead and control over all input to PROD data resulted in highly tied out results and efficient build.
  • Benefits anticipated eliminating complex (large) spreadsheets have been achieved by  Accounting.
  • Seamlessly incorporated the transaction detail into existing margin analysis process – anticipated benefit was achieved.

Technical / Systems

  • Trust:  Client was very accommodating to allow the Vendor to do the install. This was efficient as they understood the packaging and the application.
  • Structured access is a great support model to respond quickly from the vendor.
  • Have a sandbox allowed us to get going in advance of procuring hardware and get kicked off.
  • Specifications were well prepared and aided in the success of the implementation.

Other Considerations

  • Budget vs. Actual (e.g. Consulting fees) was reasonable and within expectations.

Project Delivery

Half the job in any development project is producing a solution to support business change. Deploying the software is the beginning of the end of the process. If you can’t get software into your users’ hands, then what is its value? Solution delivery is a complex endeavor, all too frequently ignored.
